Dr. Joyce Perih

Dr. Joyce Perih, a native of Scranton, earned her BS in Biology with honors from the University of Scranton. She then attended Case Western Reserve University, where she earned a rare double degree, a Doctorate in Dental Surgery and a Masters of Science in Oral Biology and Facial Growth. Doctor Perih was awarded the MS degree for her intense work on the growing mandible and temporomandibular joint complex. She also was an Associate Professor in the department of Oral Biology. Dr. Perih has presented her research nationally.

Dr. Perih next pursued her Orthodontic Certificate at the prestigious University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental Medicine. Upon completion she then went on to become the Clinical Director and Assistant Professor in the department of Orthodontics. She also interned and joined the clinical staff at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia serving on the Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Deformities Team.

Dr. Perih was honored as one of the Top 25 Business Women in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Her office was voted five time “Happy Award Winner for Best Orthodontics” for Happenings Magazine. She was also honored nationally by having been chosen to be featured in Orthodontics Practice Magazine. Dr. Perih’s main objective is for her patients to leave their treatment feeling confident and looking fabulous with their own smile for a lifetime.

Dr Perih is married with five children and two wonderful grandchildren. She and her husband Dr. James Stefanelli live in the North Pocono Community. The Stefanelli family supports many numerous charitable community efforts especially the SIMONE STEFANELLI ENDOWMENT OF MAKE A WISH in memoriam of their deceased daughter Simone.

Community Involvement

Dr. Joyce Perih's charitable efforts involve raising money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation in memory of her daughter Simone. To date more than 35 wishes have been granted and over $1,300,000.00 has been raised.

Dr. Perih has co-chaired the dental division of the United Way for over the past ten years. She and her staff distribute dental supplies and educate children from elementary through middle school for both Orthodontic and Children's Dental Health Months.

Since 2002 the office offers an Annual Halloween Candy Buy Back for their patients and the local community. Children receive prizes for donating and the candy is repackaged and distributed to the Family to Family Thanksgiving Meal Program or the Armed Services.

The famous Perih Smile Senior Picture Annual Scholarship program has awarded more than 50 scholarships to deserving students over the past twenty five years.

Her office is the proud sponsor of numerous school and privately run sports teams as well as the arts.
